-- The Pharos of Alexandria was a lighthouse built in the 3rd century BC on the island of Pharos in Alexandria, Egypt to serve as that port's landmark, and later, a lighthouse. It is considered one of the Seven Wonders of Ancient World, and gives its name to the word "lighthouse" as used in modern times. The city was founded by Alexander the Great, the mightiest conqueror human history has ever known. --
